Reference: frankincense and myrrh
Often we read things without asking ourselves the reason why. For example, the gift that the Three Wise Men gave to baby Jesus. How many of us have wondered why gold, frankincense and myrrh?
And it’s not only important to Christian tradition; these three things are world-renowned across various cultures for their numerous benefits and healing properties.
Here we focus on frankincense and myrrh because that’s what we used to create this incense, which combines both elements to create a frankincense and myrrh incense perfect for meditation and energy cleansing.
Myrrh
Native to the Middle East, its scientific name is Commiphora Molmol and it comes from a bitter-tasting plant. It has been used for rituals in Egypt, and also in Greece as protection against magic and as an ointment to heal wounds (due to its healing, antiseptic and astringent properties).
But we don’t need to look so far back in time; even today it’s used as support therapy in the treatment of ulcers, wounds and haemorrhoids (through aromatherapy).
It’s also great for cleansing in cases of bronchitis, coughs, colds, stimulating breathing, etc. And it is used in colognes and cosmetics for its revitalising and anti-ageing effect.
In essence, it gives you the life and energy to take on the world. Additionally, it’s highly recommended for meditation.
Frankincense
This has also been widely used for perfumes and different rituals, but its usefulness is more spiritual than physical. It is attributed calming properties that eliminate any type of negativity in the environment.
It is great for balancing your emotions (due to its calming effect), and promotes concentration, inspiration and relaxation.
Even so, it has also been used for body treatments in Indian Ayurvedic medicine, such as to treat arthritis, and is currently being studied to see its palliative potential against asthma, osteoarthritis, Crohn’s disease, and colitis. Frankincense is ideal for treating cold and flu.
Together they create an incense stick that will not only open your breathing and allow you to focus on meditation, but can also be used for vigorous cleansing or simply as a perfume for your home or for yourself.
